Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War (2026)
(This was originally published May 23, 2026)
This feels like half of a season of the tv show cramped into a 107 minute movie. It's not good. The one positive thing that I can say is that it move fast. It's not trying to monopolize your time.
This should have been another season of the tv show. Everything feels underdeveloped and poorly written. Wendell Pierce gives this monolouge where the word cost is said about five to ten different times in two minutes. The villain is dull and never feels threatening. The film never gives him time to be, he just comes off as an upset middle age man on a cellphone. He could be talking about bad customer service and not terrorism.
I don't like John Krasinski's take on the Jack Ryan character. He feels more CIA operator than analyst, which is a point the film goes out of its way to stress to you about every five minutes.
This movie is super forgettable. No one outside of the Jack Ryan fan base will remember this movie in six weeks. My review is a D, you can skip this.
